INTELLIGENCE 2017-05-02T10:43:50+00:00

Head, heart or body – which is your leadership style primarily based on?

All people have three main intelligences that are also described as three centers:

  • Instinctive, body
  • Emotional, heart
  • Mental, head

These three intelligences are linked to three different parts of our brain, which functions as a whole: the reptile brain, the limbic system and the neocortex. We all use all these intelligences every day, but one of them will dominate and also define the way we see and interpret the world.

Instinctive intelligence

Instinctive intelligence is our ability to act quickly. It is fast and largely automatic. People who unknowingly primarily trust this intelligence like to love their “gut feeling” and often focus on how they can use information. This is the part of us that seeks control and autonomy.

Emotional intelligence

Emotional intelligence is empathy and an ability to embrace the feelings of others. People who unknowingly primarily trust this intelligence are focused on how they are perceived by others and they are responsive to moods and atmospheres. They automatically focus on how they feel about different situations and how they are perceived. This part of us seeks confirmation from and association with others.

Mental intelligence

Mental intelligence is our ability to think clearly, draw conclusions from past experiences and plan ahead. Thinking personalities constantly scan their past, present and future for ideas, information and plans. They automatically focus on what they think about situations. What makes this part of us feel safe is planning, understanding and knowledge.

“Reaching a balance between these three intelligences is the foundation of presence and achieving successful results at work and in life in general.”
